EUR TEXT within the Culture Programme EU funding scheme is launching a project for young composers from France, Malta, Poland and the Czech Republic.
- The composers participating in this project will be invited to compose new works for period instruments in a contemporary idiom.
- Each composer will be assigned a specific piece of music from the classical repertoire.
- The new composition will be based on the same instrumentation of the repertoire piece.
- The new composition shall include references to the repertoire piece. Contemporary music ‘historically informed’ by classical repertoire.
- The composers will be invited attend a residency at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno (Czech Republic) between the 11th – 17th of January 2013
- During this residency the composers will attend a series of workshops to get acquainted with period instruments as well as composition seminars.
- The 4 new works will be premiered in Brno and in Malta in 2014 by members for the Jeune Orchestre Atlantique.

The composers’ residency is coordinated by composer Ruben Zahra Soundscapes – Maltese Association for Contemporary Music.
