For this particular event 10 Maltese composers were selected to write new piano works for children. This event was organised in collaboration with Trinity College London and the Grade I – V examination lists (2009 – 2011) were held as a reference for the new compositions. One month prior to the concert an encounter was organised as a work-in-progress. This was an opportunity for composers to discuss their work with teachers and students and listen to the music. This project connects composers with piano teachers and students to foster contemporary expression within music education. Chief Examiner, Nicholas Keyworth attended the concert addressing composers, teachers and students on the significance of this event and the commitment of Trinity College to contemporary music. Special thanks to Mr. Philip Chircop – representative of Trinity College, London.
